Iran says it has information US plans to resume military operations

Iran’s unified armed forces command said Tehran has received information indicating that the United States is preparing to resume military operations, with backing from some regional countries.

In a statement carried by Iran’s Tasnim news agency, the command warned that any US attack would trigger continuous strikes on American bases and interests in the region. It also cautioned that regional countries supporting a US assault on Iran would be considered parties to the conflict.

Earlier today, Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Iran "will not open the Strait of Hormuz until its conditions are met and US commitments are fulfilled."

Ghalibaf added, according to Iran’s Fars news agency, "As long as the legitimate rights of the Iranian people are not recognized and the US does not fulfill its commitments, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed."

The parliament speaker also noted that Iran must both fight and negotiate simultaneously, adding that Tehran "will use military force to deter its enemies and diplomacy to consolidate its battlefield gains when the time is right."
