Patent registration: Four Saudi universities among top 100 in the world

Four Saudi universities ranked among the top 100 world universities to register patents in 2021, compared to three universities in 2020, according to the annual report issued by the National Academy of Inventors in cooperation with the Intellectual Property Owners Association.

King Abdulaziz University achieved 4th place globally with 187 patents in one year, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals was ranked 25th globally with 91 patents, Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University 58th with 45 patents and King Saud University ranked 68th with 40 patents.

The results underscore the excellence of Saudi university education in recent years. One of the Ministry of Education's goals is to develop research and innovation, its preparation for strategic plans in terms of regulations, legislative and legal procedures, and financial and funding policy regulations, as well as identify challenges and present qualitative initiatives that support and strengthen the research and innovation system.
