US vice president: Iran unable to build nuclear weapon in near term

US Vice President JD Vance said Iran will not be able to develop a nuclear weapon in the near future following American strikes targeting its nuclear facilities, adding that President Donald Trump's objective is to prevent Tehran from rebuilding its program in the coming years.

Vance, quoted by Al Arabiya, stated: "Could Iran build a nuclear weapon tomorrow if it tried? No. Could it do so in six months or a year? No." He emphasized that US forces destroyed three Iranian nuclear sites, describing the prevention of their reconstruction as the second phase of the US administration's efforts.

The vice president affirmed: "What the President of the United States is seeking to ensure is that Iran does not have the resources or infrastructure to rebuild, so it remains unable to produce a nuclear weapon in two, three, or even ten years."

Vance also blamed Iran for rising fuel prices in the United States, citing Iranian attacks on commercial vessels. He said: "Why are gasoline prices so high? Because the Iranians continue to launch missiles and drones at commercial ships."
