Erdogan urges Putin to safeguard Black Sea navigation

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin during a phone call of the importance of efforts to ensure the safety of navigation in the Black Sea.

A massive fire broke out on an oil tanker off the Russian Black Sea coast on Tuesday evening after what Moscow said was an attack by "unmanned submarines." All 23 crew members were rescued.

The Russian Ministry of Transport said the Liberia-flagged tanker was attacked off Sochi, causing crude oil to ignite in the Black Sea waters.
