Hamas rejects Israeli claims of ceasefire breach as pretext for escalation

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem has dismissed Israeli claims that the group violated the ceasefire agreement, describing them as baseless and unfounded. He said these allegations are intended to justify Israeli violations and escalate aggression.

In an official statement, Qassem stressed that Hamas remains committed to the ceasefire, while Israel continues to breach the agreement. He reiterated that Israeli accusations of violations lack any foundation and are part of efforts to legitimize further Israeli actions and provide cover for increased aggression.

Yesterday, Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on the Al-Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, following an explosion that targeted an Israeli military engineering vehicle in northern Gaza, according to Israeli media reports.

Israeli Army Radio claimed that the military was conducting airstrikes on Gaza in response to the explosion, alleging that Hamas members detonated the device against the engineering vehicle in the north of the Strip.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza has resulted in more than 248,000 people killed or wounded, most of them children and women, with over 11,000 missing. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, famine has claimed many lives—mostly children—and widespread destruction has erased much of Gaza's cities and regions from the map.
