Palestinian presidency warns of rising settler incursions at Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Palestinian presidency on Monday warned of the grave danger posed by the increasing incursions by settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, carried out under the protection of Israeli police.

The presidency said these incursions constitute a blatant violation of the historical and legal status of the holy sites, adding that Israel’s ongoing attempts to impose temporal and spatial division at Al-Aqsa and escalate tensions in Jerusalem threaten to turn the political conflict into a religious war that endangers security and stability in the region.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesperson for the Palestinian presidency, stressed that the continuation of these violations reflects a serious Israeli attempt to impose new realities on the ground and restrict Palestinian worshippers’ access, describing this as a grave provocation to Muslims worldwide.

The presidency called on the international community to take urgent and practical steps to protect the Palestinian people and holy sites, and to compel the occupying authorities to halt their violations and comply with relevant international resolutions.
