Senior Saudi cleric: Houthis have left Islam, likened to Abraha

Yusuf bin Said, a member of the Council of Senior Scholars, has warned against sympathizing with the Houthi terrorist militia, urging anyone who supports them to fear for their faith. He stressed that it is not permissible for anyone who believes in God and the Last Day to support this group.

Speaking in a phone interview with Al Ekhbariya TV, bin Said said the Houthis have surpassed other terrorist organizations in violating sanctities, stating: "No other group has committed such crimes; they have exceeded them all. They show no respect for sacred months, protected lives, or holy sites—all are considered permissible to them."

The senior scholar explained that the Houthi militia aimed to drive people out of the sacred sanctuary that God has made safe, describing this act as evidence of their downfall. He swore: "By God, they will not prevail after this act, for they have waged war against God and His Messenger. They do not believe in God or the Last Day, nor do they prohibit what God and His Messenger have forbidden, nor do they follow the true faith."

Bin Said called on Muslims worldwide to trust in the Kingdom and its leadership's efforts to protect the Two Holy Mosques, affirming that Saudi Arabia and its leaders are dedicated to serving and safeguarding the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, and that no harm will come to them.

He noted that the Houthis are following the path of Abraha the Abyssinian, whom God punished as mentioned in Surat Al-Fil, stressing that all Muslims are required to confront and fight this group. He warned against sympathizing with them, as it poses a danger to a Muslim’s faith, and reiterated that these militias have left the fold of Islam and joined the ranks of its enemies.
