GCC secretary-general highlights Gulf states’ role on global stage

Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi, secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, said the active presence of GCC states in international forums reflects their prominent standing and commitment to expanding strategic partnerships both regionally and globally.

His remarks came during the ministerial coordination council meeting, chaired by Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, with the participation of GCC foreign ministers, held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Albudaiwi explained that the meeting is part of ongoing coordination and consultation among GCC states on issues of common interest, aimed at strengthening Gulf unity and consolidating joint action at regional and international levels.

Strengthening regional and international partnerships

The secretary-general noted that discussions included upcoming joint ministerial meetings with several countries and regional and international organizations on the sidelines of the General Assembly, as well as coordination on agenda topics to serve shared interests and advance Gulf cooperation.

He added that these meetings reflect the GCC and its partners’ commitment to developing relations, based on the bloc’s role in supporting security, stability, development, and promoting opportunities for regional and international dialogue and cooperation.

Albudaiwi affirmed that GCC states are committed to strengthening their relations and building partnerships based on mutual respect and shared interests, contributing to security, stability, peace, and development, and reflecting the unity of the Gulf position on regional and international issues.
