Riyadh Royal Commission launches new bridge on Othman Bin Affan Road

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City has announced the start of construction on a new bridge at the intersection of Othman Bin Affan Road and Anas Bin Malik Road in the northern part of the capital. The project is part of ongoing efforts to upgrade the city’s main and ring roads and enhance the efficiency of Riyadh’s road network.

The commission stated that the project will include improvements to road lanes, which are expected to boost traffic efficiency and ease congestion in northern Riyadh.

Additionally, a traffic diversion at the intersection will be implemented starting September 27, 2026, as part of a comprehensive traffic management plan coordinated with Riyadh Traffic Department and other relevant authorities. The aim is to ensure continued traffic flow during construction and minimize disruption for road users, while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Project details and objectives

The development of Othman Bin Affan Road in its northern section will cover 4.3 kilometers and includes the construction of seven bridges and lane improvements. This will increase the road’s capacity to approximately 500,000 vehicles per day, helping to reduce travel times and improve service levels.

The commission added that the project is part of a broader program to develop Riyadh’s main and ring road corridors, which aims to enhance the city’s road network and strengthen connections between key routes. The initiative supports Riyadh’s urban and economic growth and improves mobility by constructing and upgrading more than 500 kilometers of roads, including new routes and enhancements to existing corridors.
