Moroccan king condemns Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, pledges support

King Mohammed VI of Morocco has sent two messages to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, in response to the repeated attacks on the Kingdom by the Houthi group.

In a statement issued by the Royal Court, the Moroccan monarch stressed that such actions "cannot go unpunished or without accountability," emphasizing the need "for all of us to stand united in defense of justice, sovereignty, security, and the sanctities of the Muslim nation."

King Mohammed VI expressed "deep concern and distress over the repeated and heinous attacks targeting the Kingdom, carried out by the terrorist Houthi militias against civilian and economic facilities and vital infrastructure, as well as the targeting of cities and residential areas populated by civilians."

He further stated that "what makes these attacks even more reprehensible is that they have not stopped at targeting facilities and civilians, but have extended to desperate and criminal attempts to strike at the holiest sites on earth and the most sacred in the hearts of all Muslims: Makkah and Madinah."

The Moroccan king also emphasized that "these vile attacks and desperate attempts to undermine the security, stability, and well-being of the Saudi people are not only an assault on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its people, and pilgrims, but also a blatant attack on the feelings of more than 1.8 billion Muslims around the world."

King Mohammed VI affirmed that "the security and stability of the Kingdom, like that of other Gulf Cooperation Council states, is an integral part of Morocco’s own security. Any attack on Saudi Arabia is an attack on Morocco... and defending their vital interests is defending our shared strategic interests."

The messages also stated that Morocco will support Saudi Arabia "in confronting the dangers it faces as a result of the actions of terrorist and separatist militias and the regional powers backing them, which target the security of their neighbors and regional sphere with a short-sighted and destructive vision, aiming to undermine the security of the entire region, destabilize its countries, and threaten vital maritime corridors that are crucial for the global economy and the security of international navigation."
