Saudi Water Authority to sign deals for seven new factories nationwide

The Saudi Water Authority will hold a ceremony in Riyadh tomorrow titled "Localizing the Water Industry: Knowledge Transfer and Capacity Building," attended by several ministers, government officials, ambassadors, and CEOs from local and international industrial organizations.

The event will feature the signing of contracts and agreements to establish seven new factories across various regions of the Kingdom, adding to an existing facility for a total of eight major national plants. This initiative aims to accelerate the transformation of localization opportunities into operational projects, converting local demand into productive and technological capabilities and integrated local value chains.

Water industry localization strategy

The authority stated that this initiative marks a significant leap in localizing water industry components and strategic technologies, as Saudi Arabia shifts from meeting demand through imports to building competitive local industrial and technological capacities.

The investment opportunities program for localizing water-related industries and services includes 18 investment opportunities, focusing on priority sectors within the industry.

Market and investment outlook

Domestic demand for these industries is expected to exceed 15 billion riyals (SAR) over the next five years, while the market size in the Middle East and North Africa is estimated at around 65 billion riyals.

The program aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, the National Water Strategy, and the National Industrial Strategy, aiming to strengthen water security, enhance supply chain reliability, boost local content, and support non-oil exports.
