Heavy thunderstorms and flash floods expected across several Saudi regions Monday

The National Center for Meteorology, in its report for Monday, 10 Rabi Al-Akhir 1448 AH (corresponding to September 21, 2026), forecasted continued moderate to heavy thunderstorms leading to flash floods, accompanied by hail, over parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah regions.

The report added that light to moderate rainfall is expected over parts of the Madinah region, while surface winds raising dust and sand will be active in those areas, as well as in parts of Riyadh, Hail, Tabuk, Al-Jouf, and the Northern Borders regions.

Sea and wind conditions

The center noted that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to northerly at speeds between 20 and 40 km/h, with wave heights ranging from 1.5 to 2 meters, and moderate sea conditions.

In the Arabian Gulf, surface winds will be northerly to northwesterly at speeds of 10 to 30 km/h, with wave heights from half a meter to one meter, and slight sea conditions.
