Speaking in a phone interview with Al-Ikhbariya Radio, Dr. Al-Judai explained that these opportunities are part of the National Biotechnology Strategy. He noted that the Kingdom enjoys unprecedented government support, a robust healthcare infrastructure, and some of the best hospitals and medical centers providing advanced treatments.
The SPIMACO CEO emphasized that Saudi Arabia now has a national biotechnology strategy focused on four pillars, three of which are related to the pharmaceutical industry: localizing vaccines, gene therapies, and biological products.
Dr. Al-Judai pointed out that it is crucial to move from consuming innovation to creating it. This, he said, does not happen overnight but begins with technology and knowledge transfer, followed by developing local capabilities, and ultimately advancing research, development, innovation, and advanced manufacturing.
