Saudi foreign minister reaffirms Kingdom’s commitment to global peace at UN

Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah has affirmed that Saudi Arabia’s participation in the high-level week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2026 comes as an extension of the Kingdom’s approach in engaging with the international community and continuing its role in supporting international peace and security.

He explained that Saudi Arabia continues to promote dialogue, mediation, and contribute to addressing shared challenges. He noted that the theme of this year’s session, “Restoring trust and managing transformation.. United Nations meeting everyone's aspirations,” offers an opportunity to reaffirm the founding principles of international institutions, foremost among them the United Nations.

The foreign minister added that, amid current regional developments, Saudi Arabia emphasizes the importance of upholding international law, including respect for state sovereignty, resolving disputes through peaceful means, and ensuring the safety and freedom of navigation in international waterways, which strengthens the security of all nations and fulfills the aspirations of their peoples.

He also pointed out that sustainable development is a top priority for Saudi Arabia’s participation this year, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence and its responsible use to advance various sectors and foster innovation, coinciding with the designation of 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence in the Kingdom.
