Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry has extended its deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Italy, following the crash of a military helicopter in Bosnia and Herzegovina during a joint training exercise with European Union forces.

In a statement, the ministry said: "The Kingdom expresses its solidarity with the victims, the injured, and the government and people of Italy during this difficult time, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured and safety for all."

Four people were killed and 11 others injured on Thursday when an Italian military helicopter belonging to the European Union Force (EUFOR) crashed in Bosnia and Herzegovina during a routine mission in the country's northeast. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident, the cause of which remains unknown.

EUFOR confirmed that the helicopter, a CH-47 Chinook, crashed on Thursday afternoon near the town of Gorica in the Brčko area, about 180 kilometers from the capital Sarajevo, while participating in the EU-led Operation Althea. Rescue and emergency teams rushed to the scene immediately after the incident.
