Saudi man executed in Taif for murder after court ruling

The Ministry of Interior on Sunday carried out the death sentence against Saleh bin Yahya bin Gharibaan Al-Sufyani, a Saudi national, in the Makkah region after he was convicted of murdering fellow citizen Badr bin Fahd bin Faheed Al-Muqati.

The ministry stated that the crime occurred following a dispute between the two men, during which the perpetrator shot the victim, resulting in his death.

According to the statement, security authorities arrested the offender, and following investigations, he was charged and referred to the competent court, which found him guilty and sentenced him to death in retribution.

The verdict was upheld by the Supreme Court and became final after all legal procedures were exhausted. A royal order was then issued to carry out the sentence in accordance with Islamic law.

The execution was carried out on Sunday, Rabi Al-Akhir 16, 1448 AH, corresponding to September 27, 2026, in Taif governorate. The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed the Kingdom's commitment to maintaining security and justice, warning that those who commit similar crimes will face the prescribed legal punishment.
