The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia joins the world in celebrating the International Day of Charity on September 5, a day dedicated to promoting social responsibility and volunteering while highlighting the vital role of charitable institutions in providing aid, supporting those in need, and fostering a culture of giving and community development.

The National Center for Non-Profit Sector plays a key role in this effort, with a mandate to regulate, operate, and supervise the sector.

It aims to ensure the sector’s smooth operation and support its efforts to achieve goals aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to increase the non-profit sector’s contribution to the GDP to 5% and raise the number of volunteers to one million by 2030.

Charitable work is an essential pillar of social solidarity and security, and the Kingdom has demonstrated its leadership in this field through humanitarian aid provided to communities worldwide.

The activities of Saudi charitable organizations are diverse, ranging from health care and housing assistance for families in need to training programs that equip young men and women with vocational skills to become self-reliant.

This reflects the non-profit sector's commitment to providing a wide array of services across all regions of the Kingdom.

The United Nations General Assembly officially designated September 5 as the International Day of Charity in 2012 to raise awareness and encourage individuals and organizations to participate in charitable activities.
