Saudi Delegation Explores $180 Million Investment in Bangladesh Port Infrastructure
Talks also address broader cooperation in logistics and railways
Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman received a high-level Saudi delegation led by Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Eng. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih, to discuss opportunities for cooperation and investment in infrastructure projects between the two countries.
During the meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office, the Saudi delegation explained that Red Sea Gateway Terminal International plans to invest $180 million in developing the Bay Terminal in Bangladesh, with intentions to increase its total investment in port management to $1 billion.
According to India’s ANI news agency, the Saudi delegation also noted interest from other Saudi entities, including Red Sea Gateway Terminal International, in investing across various sectors in Bangladesh.
The Bangladeshi prime minister outlined government policies and initiatives aimed at attracting foreign investment, emphasizing the importance of strengthening economic ties with Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi delegation confirmed it had reviewed investment opportunities in areas including ports and railways, adding that discussions would continue in upcoming joint meetings.
The Saudi delegation included the CEO of Red Sea Gateway Terminal International, the Assistant Deputy Minister of Investment for Investment Development, the Saudi ambassador to Bangladesh, and several other officials.
