The Kingdom has entered the 52-day pre-winter transitional season, marking the long-anticipated shift between fall and winter as temperatures drop and the chances of rainfall increase, a change welcomed each year by residents, farmers, and off-road enthusiasts alike.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Musa, a researcher in the agricultural calendar in Aseer Region, explained that the season begins on October 16 each year and consists of two successive lunar phases, each lasting 26 days.

Al-Musa added that there are clear signs of the season’s arrival, most notably the passage of migratory birds through the skies of the Arabian Peninsula, the harvesting of honey, and the eastward shift of cloud movement due to the western jet stream.

This time of year brings moderate daytime weather and cool evenings, along with the formation of rainy cumulus clouds, making it ideal for agricultural activities and overland trips.

It also plays a key role in revitalizing wildlife and stimulating the natural ecological cycle across large areas of the Kingdom.
