On the International Day of Human Space Flight, the Kingdom reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging the unique advantages of outer space, recognizing the importance of space exploration and its optimal use for the benefit of humanity.

This includes formulating national policies and strategies, ensuring their implementation, advancing the space sector, encouraging research and industrial activities related to space, developing and supporting national expertise in space sciences, and cooperating with relevant entities and organizations both domestically and internationally.

This day, observed annually on April 12, commemorates the launch of the first human-made satellite, Sputnik 1, into outer space on October 4, 1957.

It also marks the beginning of the space age with the first human spaceflight by Soviet citizen Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961, paving the way for space exploration for the benefit of humanity.

The Saudi Space Agency is working toward achieving the Saudi Vision 2030 objective of becoming a leading global hub in the space sector by contributing to scientific and economic progress through innovation and space exploration.

The agency also focuses on strengthening international cooperation, developing national capabilities, fostering an innovation-friendly environment, and supporting investments in space sciences and exploration.
