The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) has received the Volunteer Work Award in recognition for its efforts to foster community participation in creating a more sustainable future.
The award ceremony took place during an event held on the sidelines of the COP16 conference under the patronage of Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley and Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed Al-Rajhi to mark Saudi Volunteer Day, which coincides with the International Volunteer Day, observed on December 5.
At the event, it was announced that the number of volunteers in Saudi Arabia has now reached one million, achieving a key goal of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 six years ahead of schedule.
NCVC actively works to restore vegetation cover and combat desertification, and promotes community involvement through a range of volunteer programs, including seed dispersal and cleanup campaigns.
It also engages farmers and local communities in efforts to rehabilitate degraded rangelands and national parks, and introduces modern practices to ensure sustainable land management.
