The first events celebrating World Arabic Language Day, organized by the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) and the Muslim World League (MWL), concluded yesterday at the league’s headquarters in Makkah.

The event was attended by MWL Secretary-General and Organization of Muslim Scholars Chairman Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, KSGAAL Secretary-General Dr. Abdullah Al-Washmi, and a distinguished group of scholars, heads of delegations, and leading specialists and stakeholders in linguistic and cultural affairs.

Al-Issa expressed MWL’s pride in its partnership with the academy in serving Arabic, highlighting the academy’s extensive efforts in this field. He noted that these efforts reflect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to empowering the Arabic language across various domains, from linguistic planning and policy to comprehensive digital platforms and dictionaries, and extending to cultural programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing linguistic identity and enhancing its presence among all segments of society.
Al-Washmi said cooperation between KSGAAL and MWL within the framework of World Arabic Language Day represents an important institutional step in international efforts to serve the Arabic language. He added that it reflects the academy’s role in coordinating key initiatives and promoting linguistic awareness in international forums, in support of the Saudi Vision 2030 goals to reinforce cultural identity and advance civilizational understanding.

The event featured a scientific and cultural program and discussion sessions examining the state of Arabic in the Islamic world and methodological approaches to the study of Arabic teaching in the Islamic world.

It also included an accompanying exhibition showcasing samples of the KSGAAL’s projects and scholarly publications, along with a section dedicated to Arabic-related handicrafts, offering an interactive experience that highlights the connections between the Arabic language and Islamic cultural identity.
