Interior Minister to Sponsor World Championship in Fire and Rescue Sport Opening on October 28
Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz will sponsor the opening ceremony of the World Championship in Fire and Rescue Sport on October 28.
The Kingdom is hosting the championship in Riyadh from October 26 to November 1, 2025, with the General Directorate of Civil Defense organizing the event in partnership with the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers.
Director General of the General Directorate of Civil Defense Maj. Gen. Dr. Hamoud bin Sulaiman Al-Faraj praised the interior minister’s patronage, noting that the event coincides with the centenary of the directorate's founding. He stressed that this sponsorship reinforces the Kingdom's status as a global destination for major sporting events, reflecting a positive image aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The championship, which will be held at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City, is set to be an international platform for developing the firefighting and rescue profession, enhancing personnel skills, and showcasing the latest global technologies in safety and civil protection.
The event will see participation from official delegations representing 22 countries and more than 300 participants, competing in four main events: the 100m hurdles jumping race, the 400m relay race, the tower climbing ladder race, and the combat race.
