General Entertainment Authority (GEA) CEO Eng. Faisal Bafarat yesterday attended at the Boulevard Riyadh City the concluding of the four-month period during which, as part of the Comedy Factory Initiative, the authority worked to discover artistic and comedic talents, in the presence of its.
Comedy Factory Initiative team leader Dr. Hassan Al-Balam stressed that the initiative would not have been successful without the support of GEA Board of Directors Chairman Turki bin Abdulmohsen Alalshikh, who "believed in the Comedy Factory concept and diligently pursued all of its details until it was realized".
He added: "During the project, we had clear goals set for us, namely, establishing a Saudi youth comedy theatre."
He extended his gratitude to all those who contributed to the project's success.
At the ceremony, graduate students performed in two plays written by fellow graduates: "The Enchanted Chair" and "Alzheimer." They applied the skills and experience they had acquired during their training in impersonation, performance, and diction.
Following this, certificates were distributed to the students, and Bafarat presented the faculty members with commemorative shields.
Shields were also presented to the excelling students: Ghazwa Al-Mansour, Haitham Habib Al Ahmed, Othman Khalid Al-Nassar, and Nawaf Al-Qahtani, for script writing, and Haifa Ibrahim, Abeer Fahd, Noura Abdullah, Sultan Mohammed Al-Faisal, Nasser bin Thani Al-Anazi, Omar bin Hamad Al-Qahtani, and Abdullah Al-Osaimi, for acting.
The initiative offered Saudi youths the chance to show their comedic talents and creative writing abilities, as well as to expand their skills under the guidance of academic practitioners and specialists in the field of art.
The initiative received 3,500 applications for participation, which were sorted and included over 300 applicants at the evaluation stage, including 40 students for the acting and writing tracks.
