Saudi Arabia Grand Mufti Saleh Al-Fawzan urged Muslims to increase acts of worship and good deeds during the first 10 days of Dhu Al-Hijjah, stressing the special significance of the period in Islam.

The Saudi Grand Mufti encouraged Muslims to devote themselves to prayers, charity, fasting and the remembrance of Allah, saying that righteous deeds performed during these days are especially cherished by Allah.

He also underscored the virtue of fasting on the Day of Arafah for those not performing Hajj, noting that it expiates the sins of the previous and coming year.

Al-Fawzan further reminded Muslims intending to offer the ritual sacrifice, or Udhhiyah, to avoid cutting their hair, nails or skin from the beginning of Dhu Al-Hijjah until the sacrifice has been carried out.
