The agriculture sector in Madinah region has recorded the highest growth rate among all economic sectors, reaching 44 percent, driven by major development projects and the expansion of date packaging and export activities.

A report from the Madinah Chamber of Commerce stated that the number of agricultural commercial registrations rose from 375 in March 2025 to 540 in March 2026, amid increasing activity in agriculture, especially in date production and processing.

Madinah is the Kingdom’s third-largest date-producing region, with an annual output of 344,000 tons, representing 18 percent of national production. The region is home to more than 26,000 date farms and over 8 million palm trees.

Industry and exports boost local economy

The region hosts 39 date factories, ranking second among Saudi regions in terms of factory numbers, accounting for 24 percent of the Kingdom’s 161 date processing plants.

Madinah’s factories produce around 1.067 million tons of date products and derivatives annually, with 785,500 tons allocated for packaging and processing.

Dates exported from Madinah make up 13 percent of Saudi Arabia’s total date exports, with the region shipping over 41.5 million kilograms annually to more than 60 countries worldwide.

Investment opportunities and added value

The report highlighted that date manufacturing, packaging, and export activities are a key economic driver, supporting the food manufacturing sector, creating jobs and investment opportunities, increasing the value of local agricultural products, and boosting Saudi exports globally.
