Pentagon announces coalition withdrawal from Erbil base, ending anti-Daesh mission

The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) has announced that the withdrawal of international coalition forces from Erbil base in Iraq marks the conclusion of the mission that led to the defeat of Daesh in the country.

The Pentagon explained that Iraqi security forces are expected to take on responsibility for combating the remnants of the group, expressing confidence in Iraq's ability to address remaining security challenges.

The Pentagon also stated that the United States will continue to provide training and intelligence support to its partners in Iraq, in support of stabilization and counterterrorism efforts.
