Jordan’s Public Security Directorate has announced that a ninth person has died from injuries sustained in the recent terrorist attack in Karak.

In an official statement posted on its X account, the directorate said: "One of the injured from the terrorist crime in Karak has just died, raising the death toll to nine."

Earlier today, King Abdullah II of Jordan instructed the relevant authorities to respond firmly and take strong action against those who threaten the unity of Jordanians. He stressed the need to pursue and hold accountable anyone who supports or justifies such acts, in accordance with the law.

The King emphasized that the security and safety of Jordanians is a "red line," affirming that justice will reach every terrorist. He added that "such cowardly acts will not and have never intimidated Jordan or its people, nor will they undermine national unity."

King Abdullah II also called for citizens to be kept informed of developments in the investigation and for firm action against rumors and misinformation that may exploit the crime to incite fear or discord.

He further stressed the importance of conducting a comprehensive security review of the response to the terrorist act and implementing practical measures to enhance preparedness against similar attempts, highlighting the need to uphold the rule of law and the authority of the state.

The King directed the government and relevant institutions to review counter-extremism policies and intensify efforts to eliminate its sources through a systematic plan, in coordination with religious authorities.

King Abdullah II was also briefed on the latest developments in the investigation and the security measures taken to safeguard Jordan and its citizens.
