Trump to host Chinese President Xi Jinping on state visit Thursday

US President Donald Trump will host Chinese President Xi Jinping at the White House next Thursday, as part of a state visit to the United States from September 23 to 25.

The White House announced that President Trump, along with First Lady Melania Trump, will greet President Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan on Wednesday at Joint Base Andrews. The official welcome ceremony will take place at the White House on Thursday morning, featuring 479 military personnel representing various branches of the US armed forces.

The ceremony will include the playing of both national anthems, speeches by the two presidents, military displays, and will conclude with a flyover featuring a B-2 bomber and four F-22 fighter jets.

The visit will conclude on Friday with a reception at the White House, followed by a tour of the National Archives in Washington to view documents and records related to the history of bilateral relations, according to the statement.
