US Air Force coordinating with UK on Fairford base security

The US Air Force has confirmed it is continuing to coordinate with the United Kingdom regarding the security of RAF Fairford.

The Air Force added that none of its personnel were involved in the Fairford incident, and that the security perimeter around the air base in Britain has been expanded.

British police had earlier declared a state of emergency in the village of Welford near RAF Fairford, which hosts US Air Force personnel, and evacuated residents from several homes in the area.

A specialized British Army team is currently inspecting several vehicles for ordnance and explosives, while a security cordon has been established around the area.
