Iran poses main threat to regional stability and maritime security: analyst

Political analyst Dr. Fares Al-Bail has described the Red Sea as a vital artery for global trade.

In an interview with Al Ekhbariya TV, Al-Bail said that any threat to the Red Sea affects everyone, adding that Iran and its proxies represent the most significant danger to regional stability and the security of international maritime navigation.

He stressed that ensuring maritime security is primarily the responsibility of Yemenis, as well as the countries bordering the Red Sea, Arab diplomacy, and regional diplomacy, in order to push the international community toward a framework of shared interests.

Al-Bail added that the Red Sea is one of the world’s most important routes for international trade, and that all parties would bear responsibility if they fail to act. He noted the need for international stakeholders to reconsider their approach and recognize that conflicts in the region can have far-reaching consequences elsewhere.

It is worth noting that Houthi militias in Yemen have repeatedly threatened maritime navigation in the Red Sea, in violation of international law and without regard for the flow of global trade through the strait.
