Trump urged Xi to halt all support for Iran, says US ambassador to China

US Ambassador to China David Perdue said President Donald Trump asked his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to halt any assistance to Iran during Xi's visit to Washington.

His remarks followed US reports that some Chinese entities have supplied Iran with high-resolution satellite imagery, enabling it to target American forces in the region.

In comments to the press, the ambassador added that the United States made clear to China that the Iran issue is a separate matter and not linked to the Taiwan file, noting that the American side has observed indications that China has taken these demands into account.
