UK urges faster implementation of Gaza peace plan, calls for more aid access

Britain has called for the accelerated implementation of the comprehensive peace plan for Gaza, urging improvements in humanitarian conditions and unrestricted entry of aid. The UK also called on Israel to open additional crossings and facilitate the delivery of relief, food, and medical assistance, warning of the continued deterioration of humanitarian conditions in the enclave.

During a UN Security Council session, UK Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Kate Foster expressed deep concern over worsening conditions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. She condemned violence resulting in civilian casualties, the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by thousands of Israelis, and the Israeli forces' raid on the UNRWA Qalandia Center in East Jerusalem.

Foster urged Israel to exercise restraint, maintain stability, respect international law, and ensure accountability for crimes committed. She stressed that these actions are part of a broader decline in security and stability in the West Bank, fueled by settler violence. Foster noted the approval of 104 Israeli settlements over four years and the allocation of billions of dollars to accelerate construction, warning that these measures represent a deliberate attempt to undermine prospects for a two-state solution.
