EU hopes new US Congress will maintain support for Ukraine

European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has expressed hope that the new US Congress will continue its support for Ukraine.

Preliminary results from the US midterm elections show that 368 out of 435 seats have been decided, with the Democratic Party securing 228 seats compared to 136 for the Republican Party, surpassing the 218-seat majority needed to control the chamber.

According to US media, the Democratic Party made unprecedented gains in the midterm elections, winning seats from Republicans in states that have long been considered traditional strongholds.
