Yemeni leader urges accountability for human rights violations

Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council chairman Rashad Al-Alimi emphasized that ensuring perpetrators of serious human rights violations do not escape accountability is a fundamental part of the fight to restore state institutions.

Al-Alimi received a copy of the National Committee’s report on alleged human rights violations during a meeting with the committee’s chair and members. He highlighted the importance of intensifying the committee’s work in Hodeidah, Taiz, and Marib to monitor and document violations linked to the ongoing escalation and to provide an accurate picture of the situation, according to the Yemeni News Agency.

Al-Alimi also called for special attention to the plight of civilians during displacement, attacks on roads or civilian convoys, and the forced departure of families. He stressed that documenting violations protects the present, prevents future abuses, and lays the foundation for justice and lasting peace sought by all Yemenis.
