Trump announces 'Task Force Iron Gate' in Iran amid historic naval blockade

US President Donald Trump has announced that what he called 'Task Force Iron Gate' is now 'fully operational' in Iran.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: 'Task Force Iron Gate is at full strength and operational in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and with the largest naval blockade in history, very little is going in or out of Iran!'

Trump did not clarify the nature, mission, or formation date of this task force, and as of publication, neither the White House nor the US Department of Defense had issued any statements regarding it.

The post comes as the ongoing US naval blockade of Iranian ports has reduced Iran's oil production to 1.9 million barrels per day in October, its lowest level since 1989, according to a Bloomberg survey.
