Trump warns failed Iran talks could trigger strong military action

US President Donald Trump said that negotiations with Iran are ongoing, describing them as "deep."

Trump stressed that if the talks fail, it would lead to the resumption of military action, emphasizing that he will not allow the diplomatic process to drag on for long.

In remarks to Axios, Trump explained that mediators had asked him to give negotiations with Iran a chance, but he insisted on not prolonging the talks, saying: "I will not give negotiations with Iran a lot of time," adding: "I will not give diplomacy with Iran much time."

The US president underlined that the ongoing discussions with Tehran are "deep," warning that if they falter, there will be military consequences. He said: "If talks with Iran fail, we will return to strong military action."

Trump also stated that failed negotiations would mean a return to war with greater intensity, adding: "If negotiations with Iran fail, we will return to war in a stronger way."
