Sudan's Burhan rejects US ceasefire conditions

Sudan's Sovereign Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has stated that his country will not accept the ceasefire conditions proposed by the United States, nor make concessions under any external pressure.

According to Al Arabiya, Burhan said, "We stand by our words: we do not seek visas to any country, nor do we need anyone's permission," stressing that Sudan will not bow to foreign pressure.

Burhan had planned to lead Sudan's delegation to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and deliver a speech during the general debate on September 24. However, the United States denied him a visa. In response, Khartoum appealed to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to intervene, asserting that Sudan had met all requirements for its delegation to participate in the session.

According to Reuters, Washington made the granting of Burhan's US visa for the UN General Assembly contingent on his acceptance of an unconditional 90-day ceasefire proposed by the United States.

As reported by Al Arabiya, Burhan reaffirmed that the government's objective remains to defeat the rebel Rapid Support Forces, and that the army will continue military operations against the group.
