Arab Parliament welcomes Irish law banning imports from Israeli settlements

Arab Parliament President Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi has welcomed Ireland’s approval of a law banning the import of goods produced in Israeli settlements, as well as the completion of the necessary constitutional procedures for its enactment.

In a statement issued on Monday, Al-Yamahi said the move represents a victory for international legitimacy and a clear rejection of settlement activities that violate the rights of the Palestinian people and undermine prospects for a just and lasting peace. He called on European Union countries and the international community to follow Ireland’s example and take similar measures.

Al-Yamahi reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s unwavering support for the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them ending the occupation and establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
