Mass rally in Taiz backs liberation efforts and Yemeni sovereignty

Thousands of people gathered in Taiz on Thursday for a mass rally in support of the battle for liberation, the restoration of state institutions, and the decisions of the Presidential Leadership Council aimed at safeguarding Yemeni sovereignty and ending the Houthi militia coup.

Crowds from across the province, representing a broad spectrum of political and social groups, parties, organizations, and civil society, as well as local dignitaries and community leaders, converged on the city.

Participants carried banners backing Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, supporting efforts to restore the republic, reestablish state authority across all Yemeni territory, and defend national sovereignty and the dignity of the Yemeni people.

Taiz statement: Commitment to resistance, rejection of the coup

A statement issued in the name of the people of Taiz emphasized the heavy price the province has paid defending the state, its republican system, freedom, and dignity. It stressed that the will of Yemenis remains unbroken, the state project will endure, and the coup will ultimately be defeated.

The statement highlighted Taiz’s pivotal role in championing the national cause, describing it as the living conscience of the nation and the fortress where attempts at autocracy and tyranny have failed. It pledged that Taiz would remain at the forefront until state institutions are restored and the coup is ended.

The statement also said that the imamate project has brought only war, hunger, poverty, and division to Yemen, and now serves as the most dangerous arm of the Iranian regime in the region. It warned that continued support for this project threatens not only Yemen, but also regional security and international maritime navigation.

Support for government actions and appreciation for Saudi Arabia

The statement reaffirmed Taiz’s full support for the recent speech by the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, describing it as a historic national address that outlined the next phase and reaffirmed the priority of restoring state institutions and ending the coup.

It also expressed support for all measures taken by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to protect the sovereignty of the Yemeni republic, rejecting any attempts to impose a de facto situation outside state institutions or to turn Yemen into a battleground for foreign agendas.

Participants endorsed the resumption of oil exports, calling it a responsible national decision aimed at regaining sovereign resources, enabling the payment of salaries, improving services, and supporting the national economy.

Condemnation of foreign interference and call for unity

The statement noted that Taiz, which has endured a near decade-long siege and lost thousands of martyrs and wounded, stands as the clearest witness to the false claims of the Houthi militia and the suffering of Yemenis.

The people of Taiz condemned ongoing Iranian interference and its political and military support for the Houthi militia, calling it a blatant violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and a threat to regional security and international navigation.

The statement called for national unity, rallying around the state project, its political leadership, the armed forces, and security agencies, and making the battle for liberation and ending the coup a unifying national goal.

Participants also expressed appreciation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for their continued support of the Yemeni people, state institutions, humanitarian relief, and the national economy.
