GCC armed forces launch 'Bahrain Shield' joint military exercise

The 'Bahrain Shield' joint military exercise began on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, with the participation of armed forces from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.

According to a statement from the Bahrain Defence Force, the exercise aims to strengthen joint military cooperation among GCC countries, facilitate the exchange of expertise, and assess joint military systems.

The exercise includes a range of operational scenarios and integrated field applications, designed to enhance command and control systems, develop joint military capabilities, and raise the combat readiness of all participating forces to confront any potential threats.

Other objectives include reinforcing the concept of collective Gulf defense and deterrence, as well as strengthening the foundations of military cooperation among the armed forces of GCC states to support the security and stability of the region.
