US Treasury Secretary Scott Besent said the United States will continue to apply military and economic pressure on Iran, stressing that Washington will not stop its efforts to track Iranian funds and assets around the world.

In an interview with Fox News, Besent said the US administration is working to trace Iranian money held abroad, noting that the sanctions imposed on Tehran will remain in place alongside military and economic measures aimed at curbing its capabilities.

Besent explained that there is "a lot of Iranian money" spread across the globe, confirming that the Treasury Department is tracking these assets in cooperation with relevant authorities.

The treasury secretary added that Washington is seeking to recover these funds, stating that the goal is to redirect them to the Iranian people and to compensate US legal claimants and those harmed by Iran, as he put it.

It is worth noting that since the start of this month, the administration of President Donald Trump has expanded its sanctions lists on Iran, adding dozens of individuals, entities, shipping and financial networks to the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) lists, with a focus on the oil trade, the so-called "shadow fleet," and insurance, maritime, and logistics companies, as well as financial networks accused by Washington of funding the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and weapons purchases.
