Egypt investigating source of Damietta port attack, says PM Madbouly

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said the government is continuing its investigation into the Damietta port incident to determine the source of the attack and take appropriate action, stressing that authorities will not rely on speculation or assumptions to identify those responsible.

Speaking at a press conference following the weekly cabinet meeting, Madbouly stated that the relevant agencies are examining the circumstances and origin of the incident in order to determine Egypt’s response. He noted that the Armed Forces and General Intelligence Service are working to uncover the causes of the attack.

The prime minister added that the damage to the regasification vessel at Damietta port was significant, and said the government has managed the aftermath while working to maintain the stability of the energy sector.

He explained that the government has provided alternatives to meet the country’s energy needs following the incident, ensuring continued supplies and preventing disruptions across various sectors.

Madbouly emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and any announcement regarding those responsible or subsequent measures will be based on the results and evidence, not on estimates or assumptions.
