US envoy warns Israeli strike on Abu Al-Duhur nearly sparked Turkey clash

US envoy Tom Barak has reiterated his warning that the Israeli strike targeting Abu Al-Duhur airbase in Syria's Idlib countryside nearly sparked a confrontation between Israel and Turkey.

He added that the Israeli strikes posed a real risk of rapidly escalating into a direct military clash involving Israel, Turkey, and Syria.

In comments to Hebrew media, Barak explained that Turkish forces were unaware that Israeli aircraft were heading specifically to that Syrian base or the purpose of the operation. As a result, Turkey could have scrambled its fighter jets, mistakenly believing it was under attack.
