US sanctions 10 individuals and entities over arms procurement for Iran

The US Treasury Department on Tuesday imposed sanctions on 10 individuals and entities across several countries, accusing them of participating in the purchase of weapons and military components for Iran’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics. Washington said the move aims to limit Tehran’s ability to rebuild its weapons programs and increase the cost of acquiring military equipment.

The Treasury explained that the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics is responsible for weapons research, production, and procurement for Iran’s military, and also oversees organizations involved in developing Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, according to Al Sharq News channel.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the department will continue to "target and disrupt" those providing material, technological, or financial support to Iran. He added that Washington will keep "identifying, exposing, and isolating entities supporting Iran."

The Treasury stated that the new sanctions are intended to reduce Iran’s ability to rebuild its weapons programs and to increase the cost of supporting Tehran’s efforts to acquire military equipment.
