US vice president signals new phase in Iran conflict within two months

US Vice President J.D. Vance has said that the conflict between the United States and Iran will enter a “completely different phase within two months,” noting that this aligns with President Donald Trump’s announcement that the war would end “immediately after” the midterm congressional elections.

In comments to the New York Post, Vance added that the Iranian regime will continue to lose control over the Strait of Hormuz until the elections, after traffic through this vital global energy corridor has now returned to “well over 50% of its normal level.”

Vance noted that while the future is unpredictable, he believes President Trump is correct in saying the situation will enter a completely different phase within two months. As commander-in-chief, the president determines when conflicts begin and end.

The vice president continued, “I certainly recognize that there is a degree of impatience among the American people, but what is fundamentally happening now is that the United States is not engaging in aggressive operations. We are not doing that at all.”
