Yemeni armed forces on Sunday recaptured positions that Houthi militants had infiltrated in western Taiz province, and continued their advance into new areas, as airstrikes targeted Houthi gatherings and reinforcements in various parts of the province.

A military source in the Taiz axis told the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) that the armed forces regained control of positions overlooking the Jirdad area in Al-Shamayatayn district and advanced toward the Ghayl Bani Omar area, as part of ongoing operations to expel Houthi militants from the province.

The source added that the armed forces seized military equipment during the clashes and inflicted heavy casualties on the militants.

Meanwhile, warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on Houthi positions, gatherings, and vehicles in several areas of Taiz province.

According to the source, the strikes targeted vehicles and gatherings of Houthi militants in the districts of Dhubab, Al-Wazi'iyah, and Hayfan, and also hit a group of Houthi fighters in the Al-Afeera area of Jabal Habashy district, destroying several military vehicles, detonating a stockpile of medium-caliber ammunition, and killing at least ten militants.
