US military chief says ammunition stocks sufficient, ready for any contingency

Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM), stated he is "not concerned at all" about US ammunition stocks, despite reports suggesting the Pentagon has depleted its reserves amid tensions with Iran.

Cooper made the remarks during an interview with anchor Nora O'Donnell on CBS News' "Face the Nation" earlier Sunday. When asked whether the drawdown of munitions during the conflict was a concern, he replied, "I'm not concerned at all; we are ready and prepared for any contingency."

O'Donnell noted that the United States has used 45% of its Patriot missiles and more than half of its Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile stockpile. When asked again if this was a concern, the CENTCOM commander reiterated, "I'm not concerned."

Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump said the United States possesses "virtually unlimited" quantities of medium- and high-quality munitions, and described journalists reporting on stockpile depletion as "treasonous scum."

Trump wrote on Truth Social: "In addition, we are producing munitions at unprecedented levels. We are stockpiling and preparing for any contingency that may arise," adding that arms sales to allies would resume "soon."
