Yemeni armed forces say four Iranian experts killed in Taiz

The Yemeni armed forces announced on Sunday that they had carried out 756 strikes over 72 hours targeting Houthi positions, personnel, and military assets across several fronts, confirming the killing of four Iranian experts specializing in the operation and launching of drones and missiles in Taiz province.

Colonel Majed Al-Nazili, spokesperson for the armed forces, said the operations covered the areas of Kitaf, Al-Buq‘a, Alab axis, Al-Jawf, Marib, Al-Bayda, Lahj, and Taiz, utilizing air force assets, drones, snipers, artillery, and rocket launchers.

Al-Nazili added that the operations resulted in the destruction or disabling of several troop carriers, vehicles, military reinforcements, missile launch platforms, weapons depots, and military equipment, as well as the killing and wounding of 2,316 Houthi fighters.

He noted that the deaths of the Iranian experts provided further evidence of ongoing Iranian support and expertise for the group. He accused the Houthis of distorting facts by attributing attacks on civilians and civilian sites to government forces, saying these claims were intended to cover up the group’s own violations against civilians and public facilities.

In the same context, Al-Nazili reported that the Amr bin Al-Aas School in the Al-Mudaraba and Ras Al-Ara district of Lahj province was attacked on September 23, resulting in the deaths of three civilians, injuries to four others, and damage to the school and its facilities.

He also accused the Houthis of planting internationally banned landmines along roads and valleys in Lahj, warning of the dangers these pose to civilians and local movement.

Al-Nazili affirmed that the armed forces would continue operations against sources of threat, stressing their commitment to international humanitarian law, protecting civilians and property, and restoring security, stability, and the rule of law.
