Retired Major General Abdullah Al-Qahtani, a strategic analyst, outlined the strategic significance of the recently liberated sites in Al-Jawf province.

Speaking to Al-Ikhbariya Radio, he said Al-Jawf is one of Yemen’s most important strategic regions due to its geography, which combines desert expanses with mountain ranges and commanding highlands. Houthi forces exploited this terrain, establishing positions for years on various mountains and elevated sites, as well as spreading through desert areas and the southern part of Marib province.

He added that regaining control of these sites and expelling the Houthis is of great military and strategic importance, especially since the Houthis had held them for many years and fought fiercely to maintain their presence. If these areas were not of significant field value, the Houthis would not have clung to them so tenaciously—just as they are currently holding onto positions around Marib city. They understand that losing these sites, or large parts of them, could lead to the collapse of their military deployment in the region.

He further noted that the significance of these developments is amplified by the multiple fronts witnessing simultaneous military movements: Al-Jawf, Marib, Taiz, and the western coast, in addition to air operations, which can be considered a mobile front supporting the others.

He concluded that these multi-pronged military operations aim for a broader strategic objective—not just limited field gains. The goal is to end Houthi control, overturn the coup, and return the group to its proper political and social size, preventing it from imposing its will by force or threatening Yemen and Saudi Arabia with terrorism.
